We Can’t Wait to Welcome the Pets of Calne to our Chalklands Family
It’s been a while…Time for an update!
Hello from Chalklands Vets! As the summer months draw to a close, the days get shorter, darker and a bit colder, it can sometimes feel a bit bleak – but here at Chalkland, we look forward to pumpkin spices, cosy autumn days and snuggled evenings at home with our furry friends. We’ve also been working hard to make sure there are more exciting times ahead!
Official Opening in Calne
We have an official open date for our surgery in Calne and can’t wait to see you there from September 30th. A completely renovated space, we will be bringing our caring ethos to help serve the local community of Calne. We would like to invite you to join the Chalkland family as we continue to deliver honest, transparent veterinary care that you can trust, care that is intent on maximising your pet’s health. Stay tuned for further information as the month progresses.
Welcome Dr Jose
On the topic of all things ‘new’, we’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Dr Jose Fernandez Pascual to the team who joins us this month. Jose is an advanced surgical practitioner, specialising in orthopaedic, soft tissue and minimally invasive surgeries, with an additional special interest in exotic pets (scaled, feathered and small furries). He has completed three different internships at well-respected veterinary hospitals. His passion and ethos are directly aligned with the whole team; to provide the highest standard of patient and client care. We can’t wait for you to meet him!
Ophthalmology Update
Speaking of staff members, it’s been a while since we shared information about our in-house dedicated ophthalmology service run by the incredible Dr Ida Louise Gilbert. Eye problems can be difficult to get on top of and can cause unwanted effects incredibly quickly, so it’s wonderful news that Ida is around to help. She has worked with Selina and Philly for about 17 years and is delighted to be able to provide a more regular ophthalmology service to Chalkland vets, our beloved clients and pets. Head to our ‘meet the team’ section to find out more about her and her beloved Vizsla.
Canine Behavioural Problems?
Dogs are amongst the best pets in our opinion; however, some need a little extra help with behavioural issues. Have you had the chance to see our very experienced, highly qualified and certified companion animal behaviourist, Jocelyn Lander? With a wealth of experience in the veterinary field, she manages cases from general anxiety to dog-dog reactivity issues. She is also a member of the UK Dog Behaviour and Training Charter and a member of ICAN (International Companion Animal Network). If you need a bit of extra support with your furry friend, please do get in touch.
In-house Physiotherapist
And last but by no means least, we would like to remind you of our in-house ACPAT (Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy) registered physiotherapist, Leanne. She utilises a variety of different treatment techniques including manual therapy, K-laser and exercise. All treatments are tailored to the needs of each individual, so she is the perfect person to see if your pet is looking a little stiff. Physiotherapy is often used as an alternative to surgery (in some cases) so come and reap the benefits today. K-laser therapy is also a fantastic way to aid healing as part of pain management and is often recommended post operatively.
The team, here at Chalklands, have had a pretty busy summer. We’re always available to help, from larger problems to routine, preventative healthcare so please do get in touch. We can’t wait to delve into our next challenge with the opening of our branch at Calne and hope you’ll be along for the ride with us, head out the window, ears to the wind! Let’s go!
